Clyde
Clyde was rescued early in the year in 2022. He had been wandering the roads in Lamar County with his friend Bonnie. Bonnie was much easier to catch, but Clyde remained on the run until we found someone who could rope him and bring him in. What we didn't know at the time was that both he and Bonnie had eaten something toxic. He got very sick, and it took our vet throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him to save him. You can see in the slideshow below that he was thin when he came, but got extremely emaciated due to the illness. He was in liver failure, and we were told he likely only had months to live and we would know when it was time to say goodbye. During this time, he had made a best friend in a pony named Opie, and when he was feeling better, they went to foster together for the summer. We had a vet check him in late summer and his liver values were down and he was no longer in liver failure! He is back home now for the winter and has a new friend in Daisy. He is older like she is and will remain with us for the rest of his life. This is because he can be skittish around people and is a hard keeper due to his age. And we don't want to take him from his friends at his age when there isn't a need to.
We have put together a few wish lists for Christmas. The lists have a variety of items that will be useful to making Clyde happy, healthy, and comfortable. He (and we!) would greatly appreciate any item or items you wish to donate. Items from tractor supply can be ordered online for pickup at the Hattiesburg store under the name Miranda Swilley. Or, if you wish to bring them directly, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected]. If you prefer to use Chewy, it isn't as personalized because they don't allow us to make individual wish lists, but if you want to get him some food, Clyde eats the red bag of Tribute high fat. He also goes through a lot of senior weight accelerator or cool calories.
